Shubh
Our Story

A few words about
Mrs. Kaur, the founder.

Mrs. Kaur — founder of Shubh

A kitchen of memories,
a community of friends.

Shubh's journey began in 2010, when Mrs. Kaur opened her humble spice shop on Sandringham Road, Auckland. Surrounded by the familiar aromas of turmeric, cardamom and cumin, she found joy in sharing not just food, but the essence of Punjabi tradition with her community. What started as a small shop soon became a kitchen of memories, where recipes passed down through generations were lovingly recreated and reimagined.

Guided by the values of family, faith and community, Mrs. Kaur poured her heart into every dish — blending the warmth of home cooking with the richness of Punjabi culture. From simple lentils and fresh rotis to festive sweets and celebratory curries, Shubh became a place where food was more than a meal. It was comfort, togetherness, and heritage on a plate.

Fifteen years on, Shubh has grown into a beloved name in Auckland. Today we serve a vast variety of vegetarian curries, breads, rice, snacks and desserts — all made with fresh produce carefully chosen from trusted local Punjabi farmers. Our motto remains quality over quantity, and our promise is the same as it was on day one: to serve food that carries the nostalgia of tradition, the warmth of family, and the simple joy of sharing.
